Baja day 6: Bahia De Los Angeles

Set up next to our camper is a teepee style tent that we use to shower in as well as keep our portable toilet. This morning, while I was using the facilities, I hear our camp neighbor, who is out for a morning swim, exclaim “starfish!”  In that moment, I can’t help but laugh…at how much I love my life, how much I love this style of travel, how much I love Mexico in the winter.

We begin the day breaking in our new paddleboards. We see hundreds of starfish, two huge schools of fish, a few seals (not even 20’ away) and several sting rays. Is this real life?

Mark spends the rest of the day diving in to a long-awaited project. I start reading a new book, catch up on email, and, thanks to the wonder of Starlink, get to connect with four of my closest friends over a Zoom call.

Just before sunset Mark’s project is ready for a test run, or a maiden voyage of the most hilarious kind.  He’s made us an electrically-powered paddleboard catamaran. Amidst the glow of golden hour we set out on a one-of-kind cruise around the bay. We look absolutely ridiculous and are simultaneously having a freakin’ blast.

What a hilariously wonderful little life we live.
