On our way to Arizona we stopped over in Moab, Utah at a picturesque campsite alongside the Colorado River. Big Bend Campground is 8 miles from downtown Moab, costs $15 per night and offers some nice, scenic, easily accessible camp sites. Falling asleep to the sound of the river alone made this a great place to stay. We’ll definitely be back.
Number of sites: 23, some can accommodate large RVs
Reservable: No
Hookups: No.
Amenities: Vault toilets. On-site trash. Each site has a picnic table and metal fire grill.
Managed by: BLM

Our site (#6) offered full sun which was ideal for November but these sites tucked in the trees would be awesome during the heat of the summer.

Great post! I’m heading over to Utah in a week with my Tacoma and FWC Fleet. You just picked my first nights camping for me. Thanks!
Right on! Have a stellar trip!
Michelle,
I just returned from my trip to Utah. Beautiful scenery and I found some great spots Northwest of Moab. But when I tried to find a spot at the Big Bend campground most of them were closed off. As were the entire next four campgrounds. The only one that was open was the Negro Bill about a mile or so outside of Moab. I should have checked before I left to see if they were open…..but what the heck…..going to “plan B” makes life interesting sometimes. Anyway, thanks for your great Blog and amazing photos!

Michele,
I should clarify that the Negro Bill is now the Granstaff campground.
Thanks Matt!
Hi Matt, welcome back. I completely forgot that half the Big Bend Campground was closed for the season when we were there in November. My apologies for not thinking to mention this. We did notice that many of the other campgrounds were completely closed and were bummed that this fact was not noted anywhere that I could find on the BLM website. It makes off-season camping a little tricky. Anyhow, I hope you had a fantastic trip!
New to your blog and enjoying it. The Big Bend Campground definitely goes into my future trips folder.
Thanks for reading Scott!
