above: a mid-way fuel stop, not much going on in McCook, Nebraska

Last week we hopped in a Cessna 172 and flew across the midwest to visit Mark’s family in Iowa.  It’s something we’ve dreamed of doing for years now so it was pretty sweet to finally be doing it.  We may have only moved at a fraction of the speed of a commercial airliner but Mark let me bring more than 3 oz. of liquids on board so I didn’t mind.  : )  There’s not a whole lot going on between here and Iowa, a couple of fields, some green ones, some tan ones but I still brought my camera and snapped away.  It’s what I do.  Check it out…

At the end of the week, we made the short trip down to Kansas City to visit Mark’s extended family for the weekend.  I love how the Kansas City skyline is the backdrop for the airport.

Getting a little bored on the way back to Colorado, I tried finding interesting patterns in the fields.

It’s like the fields go on for eternity.  And then, in the bottom right photo, sand dunes?  Random.

After hours and hours flying over fields, it was pretty exciting to see the mountains! Too bad it was super hazy, I was hoping to get some better shots.

What a trip!  I am so stoked to see my husband get the opportunity to do something that he has dreamed of for most of his life.  He’s an amazing pilot.  I can’t wait for the next trip!
