Our life on the road

Since 2020 we’ve been full-time nomads. We spend part of the year roaming the mountain west in our 21′ travel trailer and the other part overlanding in Mexico in our truck camper. These are stories from our everyday life on the road.

Notes from the road #11: March ’25

N

As I sit here on a beach in Baja California, Mexico, reflecting back on all that happened in March, it feels surreal.  We lived a lot of life in March, and even flirted with death.  At the top of the month, the mission was simple: follow the Pacific coast from Oaxaca 1,200 miles northwest to Mazatlán, and take the entire month to do so, if we feel like it.  In the end, it was anything but simple...

Notes from the Road #10: February ’25

N

Hello and happy March! Being that we crossed into Mexico before Thanksgiving, it’s crazy to be only three weeks away from spring and nowhere near the US border. We’ve always said that we wish to spend more time in Mexico every year and that’s exactly what we’re doing. In February we continued to make our way south, ending up much closer to Guatemala than the US. While we...

Notes from the Road #9: January highlights

N

If you’ve not been keeping up with our daily stories of our travels around Mexico, this January recap is for you! We kicked off the first day of the year with the most unique place we’ve ever spent a night in our truck camper.  The TMC cargo ferry took us 278 miles, over the course of 16 hours, from the city of La Paz in Baja California Sur to the city of Mazatlan on the mainland of Mexico.  This...

Notes from the road #8: November ’24

N

Welcome to Notes From The Road, a monthly recap of where we’ve been and what we’ve been up to over the last 30 days. This edition of Notes from the Road, I’m happy to report, is coming to you from a stunning and secluded beach on the west coast of the Baja peninsula. While this November recap is a bit late, in all honesty, I considered not sharing anything from November at all. Two thirds...

Finding patience in presence: how our truck build has been a practice in chilling out

F

The last four years of life on the road have looked quite similar for us.  Colorado in the summer, Arizona and Baja in the winter, and anywhere in between as we migrated south and back north.  The problem with repetition is that Mark and I get bored easily and end up craving all that there is to be discovered in the unknown.  Something that can’t be achieved when you’re constantly residing within...

All your questions answered: a Q&A with us

A

In a recent post we asked you all to submit any and all questions you had for us about our nomadic lifestyle. In today’s post I’m excited to share everything we were asked along with our responses. Sit back, relax, and enjoy learning many random things about us, our modes of travel, how we avoid burnout, what we love and don’t love about our Four Wheel Camper, and so much more...

Notes from the road #7: October ’24

N

Welcome to Notes From The Road, a monthly recap of where we’ve been and what we’ve been up to over the last 30 days. And just like that, it’s November (insert wide-eyed emoji here).  It’s been a busy year for us but October took the cake, disappearing on us like a thief in the night.  Between photographing weddings and portrait sessions around Colorado, spending time with...

I’m on the Journey with Jake podcast this week

I

Last month I was interviewed by Jake for the Journey with Jake podcast and I’m so excited to share that the episode is now live. Jake asked so many thoughtful questions about life on the road as well as what inspired Mark and I to pursue an unconventional way of life. There are some fun stories in this episode that I have yet to ever share on the blog. To read more about what the episode...

Notes from the road #6: September ’24

N

Welcome to Notes From The Road, a monthly recap of where we’ve been and what we’ve been up over the last 30 days. If there ever was a time to tour the Colorado Rockies, it is the month of September. With the aspen trees turning magnificent shades of orange and yellow accompanied by the season’s first dusting of snow on the mountain tops, there’s no place I’d rather be this time...
