Somewhere in the desert West of Mulege //
I open the camper door this morning at the break of dawn to all the twinkle lights twinkling and the Christmas tree table filled with presents. Adam rose before us all to see that the scene was set before 3 year old Hannah woke up. We brewed coffee and tea and gathered round to exchange gifts. Since we all live full-time in truck campers, and exchanging gifts was a last minute development, we all got a kick out of giving and receiving very small items, many of them consumable.
The campfire kept us warm until the sun finally rose from behind the mountain. We ate breakfast, enjoyed a group yoga session, and then huddled in the shade of our truck campers as the sun intensified. Layer up for morning, shed layers while the sun is shining, and layer back up at sunset. That’s winter in the desert.
We confirmed as a group that tomorrow we’d get back on the road and proceed west in hopes of the dirt track that got us here taking us all the way through to the Pacific side of the peninsula.
At dusk each of us provided a portion and collectively made a delicious Christmas dinner. Again, not planned and yet came together perfectly. Another campfire closed out the night and by 8:30pm we were all tucked away inside our tiny homes. All in all, an incredibly relaxing day spent with some of the most awesome people we’ve ever met.
